Welcome to your Frontcountry Leadership Training (FLT)! The FLT is BAWT's entry-level course that covers all the basic skills you will need to successfully take youth on car-camping based overnight trips. Skills covered include camping safety, day hiking, tent and stove set-up, clothing requirements, nutrition, team building activities, and more. All learning is experiential. Food from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch is included, as well as any gear you may borrow from BAWT for the training. No previous experience is necessary. We welcome whatever experience you bring, from those who have never slept in a tent before to those who have spent extensive time in the backcountry. The course itself is a two-day, one night overnight Saturday-Sunday camping trip in the South Bay, plus a mandatory pre-trip meeting on a weekday evening before the course.
