Welcome to your OGO Frontcountry Leadership Training (FLT)! The FLT is an entry-level course that covers all the basic skills you will need to successfully take youth on car-camping based overnight trips. This course is targeted to the Oakland Goes Outdoors (OGO) community, though registration is open to all and the course will cover all of our core BAWT curriculum. Skills covered include: Camping safety, day-hiking, tent and stove-set up, clothing requirements, nutrition, and team building activities. All learning is experiential. Food from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch is included, as well as any gear you may borrow from BAWT for the training. No previous experience is necessary. We welcome whatever experience you bring, from those who have never slept in a tent before to those who have spent extensive time in the backcountry. The course itself is an two-day, one night overnight Saturday-Sunday camping trip in the Bay Area, plus a mandatory pre-trip meeting on the Wednesday evening before the trip.
